Adbuster

In the original advertisement there is a wagon filled with several different social networking websites logos. While the original advertisement can be used to show the varieties of ways communication has advanced and the many ways that people can socialize through technology.... I feel like there is an underlying message. I believe the intended message is to notify society, using the "everyone is doing it" approach, of things they should be involved in to fit in. The intended audience are those who are technical logically savi - TYPICALLY those between the ages of 18 to 30. The audience that is being left out are those who do not have access to technology or those of older generations.

Documentary - Abandonment

For my documentary series I decided to capture what I think of as "Abandonment of the senses". In the images I took, I sensed abandonment in some fashion; whether it physically LOOKED like abandonment or FELT like abandonment. Something I feel adds to this, is the choice I made to make my photos black and white. Before hand each of these photos contained some general use of color, however, I feel that it took away from the general feel. In most of these photos, there is a grunge to them. For example in the first image, the building is obviously old and run down. In images 5 and 6 the original image contained rust on the objects.

Reflection

Framing

In order to frame the guitar I knew I needed to create a border of some sort. In the first and third photos I used the object of the mirror again to frame the guitar and place it into natural focus. In the first photo, you see a desk of clutter yet your eye is drawn still to the guitar due to effective blurring. Photo two, the guitar is surrounded by a door frame. Naturally, the motive I had behind framing the guitar was to draw sole focus to my object and almost create a "photo-within-a-photo".

Reflection

In choosing to utilize the photographic technique of reflection I was thinking of ways to "reflect" life through my guitar. In some ways, my mood as I play is very reflective so capturing it in this way sort of portrays myself. In these three photos I used a mirror in order to create my source of reflection. In photo 1, the focus of the reflection is drawn to the strings of the guitar. Photos two and three sort of create a "double vision" effect geared through the reflection.
